The piece was produced to shed light on the Persian culture through the translation and representation of pre and post-Islamic poetry written by women of the region. The work within this piece reflects the changes Iran underwent following the Iranian Revolution of 1979. In specific, The institutionalization of Islamic and shari’a law which re-shaped gender laws under the Islamic Republic, and resulted in the status of Iranian women significantly declining. The piece is a single sheet, accordion-folded into four panels, is silkscreen printed with the title in Persian and English on one side, and has four pockets attached on the other side.
