Description

Inspired during her time as a Spanish interpreter for U.S. Courts, Tona Wilson created her artist book, Stories Behind Bars. This work contains four different booklets, each detailing and presenting different stories of injustice in the United States immigration system, focusing on the detainment and incarceration of immigrants. Each booklet offers the reader interactive insight into the issues surrounding the treatment and standard of care of immigrants while detained and incarcerated. The booklets are journalistic, with some pages with handwriting and storytelling, while others have text and statistic.
